How do I tell which mount has failed?
Front and rear mounts usually show up as a clunk or a rocking engine at idle; side mounts can cause vibration through the body. A visual inspection of the rubber for cracks or fluid leaks on hydraulic mounts usually confirms it.
Should I replace all engine mounts at once?
Not necessarily, but mounts wear together and are far easier to access at the same time. If two or more look degraded, replacing the set avoids repeating the labor.
Can a bad engine mount feel like a transmission problem?
Yes. A collapsed mount allows drivetrain movement that shows up as hesitation or a clunk on shift, which is often misdiagnosed as a transmission fault. Check the mounts before authorizing transmission work.
Are these hydraulic or solid rubber mounts?
